Each year at our school's kindergarten orientation in February, the kindergarten teachers look at the new students interacting with their parents, and we postulate concerning who is about break into tears. There are usually about three or four that cry at the orientation and another five or so that cry the next week when school actually starts. But after the initial shock of starting school, the crying has always stopped.
Unfortunately, this year has proven anomalous in this matter. I can usually be assured of one or two students crying each week, and we are into our fourth month of school. I'm not sure what has brought it about, but I've discovered that a baller really makes it difficult to sing happy little kindergarten songs.
